Sunshine Energy
Reiki Healing

I found reiki after months of not feeling well. All medical tests came back normal, and there was no explanation for how poorly I was functioning. After some research, I decided to try Reiki, a Japanese energy healing technique, which helps to realign the body's energy, clear negative blockages and clean out chakras. After a few sessions I finally felt better; recharged, positive and had a general sense of well-being. The wonderful results created a need to know everything about the technique. I became certified through The International Center for Reiki, took some additional information classes, and read whatever I could get my hands on. I truly believe that positive energy makes a huge difference to physical well-being and healing of any kind. I am so excited to join the Complete Wellness Center and continue to share the gift of reiki energy! Amanda Rak, Reiki Master

What is Reiki?

Reiki therapy is a Japanese healing technique, based on the principle that a therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words: "Rei" which means God's Wisdom or the Higher Power, and "Ki" which means life force energy. So, technically, Reiki is spiritually guided life force energy.
A Reiki practitioner becomes a vessel that supplies healing energies wherever they are needed within the patient. Reiki energy flows out of the practitioner's palms into the client's body.

Medical Benefits in Recent Studies:

Recent medical studies have shown many benefits from Reiki treatments, as a complement to Western Medicinal treatments. Reiki has been used in many US hospitals to assist in regular medical procedures. It was found that hospitals that offer Reiki sessions help operations go smoother, and generally aids in quicker recovery times.
Some other benefits include:

  • improved pain management for advanced cancer patients
  • reduction in pain after abdominal hysterectomies
  • improved immune system & decreased pain (Muscular Sclerosis, Lupus, Fibromyalgia)
  • decreased anxiety, greater relaxation, increased immune response
  • decrease in cancer-related fatigue
  • decrease in pain and discomfort during pregnancy, calms nerves and deepens the relationship between mother and baby

How is Treatment Done?

Treatments can happen anywhere, but generally a quiet place is preferred. Clients are usually lying down or sitting comfortably in a chair, fully clothed. Reiki is transferred through a gentle, non-invasive touch on a series of locations. Dim light and calming music help to create the calming environment. Reiki can be done directly on the body area where it is needed (i.e. on the head for a headache) – an entire session is not necessary to feel the effects of the energy therapy.

Why Reiki?

Reiki helps you heal yourself, relieves emotional and physical pain, boosts your immune system and decreases feelings of anxiety. It allows you to feel more in control of your own life. Along with mental and emotional benefits, Reiki has also been proven to heal physical symptoms. The person receiving Reiki is actually self-healing. Clients subconsciously take only the amount of energy that is needed from the practitioner. There is no risk of harm, and only positive energy is transferred. Reiki is unlimited, so the energy supply will never deplete.

What does it feel like?

Every person's reaction to Reiki is a little different, although most people generally experience feelings of deep relaxation. Many people feel surrounded by a glowing comforted feeling through and around them. Feelings of well-being and peace are experienced as the energy from Reiki allows people to let go of fear, anxiety, tension and negativity.
Along with feeling completely relaxed, some people fall asleep or express having visions and out of body experiences. At the end of the session, the person feels refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook. People commonly report a sense of calm and mental clarity during and after a session, and of having a good night's sleep.
While most people leave sessions feeling refreshed, sometimes they notice feeling more tired than usual. Being tired is not an adverse reaction, but can be understood as the body's natural healing response. Reiki is cumulative and people who do not feel significant effects in their first session, usually have progressively deeper experiences as they continue.

From the People:

Alex, from Hamburg was diagnosed with cancer in the Fall of 2015. After completing chemotherapy and radiation treatment from Roswell, Alex began Reiki with Amanda in November. The cancer treatment took a toll on him physically and emotionally and he began treatment in a 'personal low'. From the beginning, he noticed a greater sense of calm, and less pain. As treatment continued, eventually reiki treatment became twice a week, he was able to eventually stop pain medication, gain a greater sense of energy, have a positive mindset and feel rejuvenated. Alex continues to make incredible progress and looks forward to his sessions.

What about Four-Legged Friends?

Animals respond naturally to Reiki treatments. Reiki helps animals get relief to the pain of arthritis, anxiety, digestion, and other issues. The benefits are limitless. Studies show that adoption of animals in shelters where Reiki is offered, is increasing. Reiki helps these adoptable animals return to a state of well-being and inner peace, allowing their loving personalities to resurface, making them more desirable for people looking for a new pet.

Celebs Love it Too!

According to OK Magazine and The Herald, many celebrities believe in Reiki and receive treatments regularly, including Sandra Bullock, Ellen DeGeneres, Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson, Helen Hunt, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Uma Thurman! The Medical Community is embracing Reiki. Many hospitals and doctors are incorporating Reiki into their practices, including celebrity cardiologist Dr. Mehmet Oz, as it is found to be a great complement to Western Medicine.
